The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) is leading the development of a new strategic 10-year Science and Technology Plan for Western Australia, with the aim to establish WA as a global hub for leading and inclusive science and tech research, development, commercialisation and deployment. The plan involves broad consultation with stakeholders, including industry, research institutions, Aboriginal groups, government agencies and universities. This first phase aims to gather information on the current science and technology environment in WA and begin to identify key priority areas. JTSI is conducting a number of workshops across the regions with the aim of gaining a snapshot of the current science and technology environment in WA as well as to identify key priorities and brainstorm a vision. The first workshop was completed in Perth on Monday 2 October with 150 attendees.
